One of the things I love most about living and working in Plymouth, Minnesota is how many family-friendly activities there are during the summer months. Whether you're looking for a way to spend an afternoon with your kids or simply want to enjoy the beautiful Minnesota weather, Plymouth has so much to offer.

As a Plymouth family photographer and local mom, here are a few of my family's favorite summer spots.

1. Grab Ice Cream at Honey & Mackie's

If you've spent any time in Plymouth, chances are you've heard of Honey & Mackie's. This local favorite is known for its delicious ice cream and family-friendly atmosphere.

After a day at the park or a summer sports game, stopping for a cone is one of our favorite treats. There are plenty of flavors to choose from, and it's always a hit with both kids and adults.

Summer in Plymouth just doesn't feel complete without at least a few visits to Honey & Mackie's.

2. Explore the Playground at French Regional Park

French Regional Park is one of our favorite places to spend a summer morning or afternoon.

The playground is large, well-maintained, and offers something for kids of all ages. There are plenty of opportunities to climb, slide, and explore, making it easy for children to burn off some energy while parents enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Beyond the playground, the park also features walking trails, picnic areas, and scenic views that make it a great destination for the entire family.

3. Visit the Plymouth Farmers Market

One of my favorite summer traditions is visiting the Plymouth Farmers Market on Wednesday afternoons.

The market offers a wonderful mix of local produce, baked goods, and handmade items. It's a great opportunity to support local businesses while introducing kids to fresh fruits, vegetables, and local products.

The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, making it an easy outing for families.

4. Play at Parker's Lake After the Market

One of the best parts about visiting the Farmers Market is that the fun doesn't have to end there.

After picking up fresh produce and treats, we often head over to Parker's Lake. The playground and beach area make it the perfect place to let the kids play while enjoying a beautiful summer evening.

Whether you're building sandcastles, exploring the playground, or simply enjoying the lake views, it's an easy way to turn a quick market trip into a memorable family outing.

Making the Most of Summer in Plymouth

Summer always seems to go by too quickly. Between activities, vacations, camps, and everyday life, it's easy for the season to fly by before you know it.

Taking time to enjoy simple local traditions like ice cream outings, playground adventures, farmers markets, and evenings at the lake helps create some of the memories that families treasure most.

If you're looking for ways to enjoy summer with your kids, these Plymouth favorites are a great place to start.
